Friday

my morning mishmash

we were sitting around a table discussing my writing. it was a pretty large group of friends and other strangers and my brother, who still hadn't seen my blog. i'm not sure what piece of writing he was reading. i sat and watched him, nervous with anticipation. when he finally put the sheet down, he smiled and said he was annoyed that my arguments were so solid. he had no reply, no counter-argument. i laughed and he laughed back. and for that crazy minute, everything between us was forgiven.

then i dreamt about Jessica. except it wasn't really Jessica but Clare from the Time Traveller's Wife. she had come to me looking for some 220 V plugs. before we started looking i walked up behind her and gave her a hug. we just stared into space for a little while. she started talking about her past and i could see her memories playing out like a projector in front of us. there was a young girl in a boat and she was crying as the water filled up around her. i asked her if this happened before she met Henry. she said no, it was after. then we grabbed the four blue bins from the dark room and dragged them out into the light. i rummaged around and only found one, even though i had just fished out another three for someone else. i suddenly remembered where they were and went to get them. when i came back, she had somehow managed to get herself on top of my mom's buffet in my old living room. she was crouched against the ceiling and she couldn't get down. i had to grab her like a child and convince her everything was going to be just fine.
